Tichborne Park 1st XI vs Fawley at home.
After a narrow loss away on the opening weekend, Tichborne returned to The Park for the first of back-to-back home games.
Winning the toss, TPCC elected to bat. While trying to be patient against a wily attack; they soon found themselves three down. After Ed Primmer was out for 29, the old guard took over. Martin and Will shared a solid stand which helped take Tichborne to a reasonably competitive 177 all out. Martin finishing with 55 and Will 42.
The magic then really took over in the field. Heads filled with the wise words of Trev Booker, Fawley were 10-3 including a beauty of a delivery from overseas Lachlan, bowling the batsman while shouldering arms. After a one sided partnership of 40-odd, the sky clouded over and magic filled the air.
4 wickets in 4 balls from Will Allam, including a great catch at slip from Jacob Bristow for the hat-trick, left Fawley reeling and they couldn’t recover, eventually being bowled out for 125.
Special thanks to Kirsty for scoring and Joyce for her help with teas.
It was lovely to see the park so busy with everyone who came to watch after their games.
